Solved byFeb 23, 2012 06:16 Hi
I have just bought this software yesterday and spent all evening trying to install the thing and get it to work. After numerous attempts and a bit of a look on here at previous problems, I thought I would ask for some help before taking the thing back.
I am pretty clueless, so please take pity on me. I have a Windows 7 machine, 64bit, have downloaded quicktime but everytime I try and load PWD10 (Ultra) I get the PDR.exe has stopped working message straight from the off.
Help would be appreciated
Chris Christian

Feb 23, 2012 06:30 Chris: Welcome to the PD10 forum. Don't worry about being 'clueless.' We all were when we started with PD - well at least I was!
If you have the latest version of QuickTime installed as you indicate, and you have the latest video driver for your graphics card, then the problem may be with your computer itself, or with conflicting software or missing codecs.
Would you be so kind as to attach a dxdiag file so we can have a look and see if your computer can handle PD10 (see sticky thread about info to supply at the beginning of this forum)? PD10 is a pretty resource intensive and will quickly show up any limitations in your computer configuration.
We are all editors here just like you and don't work for Cyberlink. We want to help get you going so that you can enjoy PD10 as much as we do.
Hope this helps. Have a great day.

Feb 23, 2012 06:38 Chris: Thank you for your dxdiag file. You sent that when I was composing my previous response.
I think that your notebook is seriously underpowered for PD10. See the link below for PD10 requirements:
http://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdirector/requirements_en_CA.html
From just a quick look, your RAM is only 4 GB and should be 6 GB or more for a 64-bit OS. Of more concern, you don't seem to have a graphics card (on-board graphics on your computer by the look of it) and only 32 MB of dedicated video RAM. Your CPU is also marginal.
Notebooks are not recommended for video editing, which is very resource intensive. Even laptops, the lower-end ones, will struggle with PD10.
Sorry I can't bring you good news, but I think the problem is your computer. Have a great day, any ways.
